Keyword Phrases: How Long?

Dealing with keywords is very important because this is one of the things that make SEO so effective. This is why many wonder if they should use only single generic keywords or should they narrow down their scope by being more specific with keyword phrases?

While there is indeed no hard and fast rule in the making of keywords (it’s really all a case-to-case basis), most experienced optimizers use 2-3 words for keyword phrases. This is because phrases made in 2-3 words are usually the kind of keywords used by people who want something specific, who are usually buyers. Anything less would be too general and anything more would be way too specific for anyone to find.

Specific keywords have been proven to be more likely to go up the rankings than generic ones, so you need to work on your keyword phrasings in a way that search engine users use them, and that is with 2-3 words
